Hello
My name is Vasiliki Dimakopoulou and I was born in Athens, Greece, some years ago (well, maybe more than some).
My first memory as a child was my Dad singing to me a lullaby called “Sleep my little angel” by Mikis Theodorakis.
Since then, my life has been full of music, listening to my Dad playing his guitar and my Mum singing.
I was asked if I wanted to learn an instrument when I was 8 and the natural answer was piano, despite my Mum’s objections. She was worried that playing piano meant I couldn’t have fun with friends.
When I first played the note Do on Mrs Elli’s piano, I fell in love and since then have never stopped.
For 12 years I learned piano, theory, harmony, music history, morphology, solfege and lots more.
In parallel and following not always the “artistic path”, I studied Political Sciences in Law School of Athens and completed an MBA from Open University.
Being a happy Mum of three, in 2017 the decision of moving to London was taken and since then, I have been teaching piano, theory and music history to all levels and ages.
I have continued my never-ending journey into developing my passion and skills by continuing to learn from and associate with educators, mentors and tutors.
“Live and Learn” Solon said (γηράσκω αεί διδασκόμενος) and I am learning something new every day so that I can pass on to my students knowledge using current best practices and pedagogical approaches.
Let’s start our musical journey together…
